UMW Purpose

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The name for United Methodist Women's basic financial giving has been changed from undesignated giving to Mission Giving to make it easier to tell the story of the United Methodist Women's vision outreach. The new name says what UMW is about -mission- and what makes that possible-giving. Mission giving is the foundation for mission work through United Methodist Women and the Women's Division.
